Welcome to Hannah Burbury Designs and welcome to my first blog post! I have wanted to start a blog for a while now and I thought now was the ideal opportunity with just starting a new year and new decade! I hope my blog will be a place where I can share with you my inspirations, new projects, tutorials etc.
For my first blog post I thought I would share a little more about me and how I started my creative journey. So I'm Hannah, I'm 25, a fashion and textiles graduate and flower lover. I've always been creative since I was young and loved making cards to give to family and in 2008 I started selling the cards in my local library. This started with a small basket of cards and soon grew to a table full of handmade items. I loved the buzz of making and selling. It was so nice to think that something I had spent time making someone liked it enough to buy!
I enjoyed creative subjects at school and loved Art and Design so much I decided to do a Art & Design BTEC Course at College where I solely focused on Art and Design every day! I loved it, imagine spending every day being creative. I then went on to study Fashion & Textiles Design at Uni, as I really had a passion for sewing and textiles that I wanted to pursue further. My three years at Uni flew by, it was a very intense course but I really enjoyed it and I learnt so much. I was so pleased to graduate in 2016 with a First Class Honours Degree.
In April 2019 I launched Hannah Burbury Designs. I primarily design and make hand embroidery kits but I also sell finished embroidered pieces and screen printed items such as greeting cards and tote bags. The first collection I designed was the forget-me-not collection. It was inspired by my late Grandmother, whom I sadly lost to Dementia. Each of the designs are named after my Grandmother, great-Grandmother and great-great-Grandmother. All of the designs are featured on my website so please take a look for more info or click on the photo below. I shall go into further details about my kit designs on another blog post. I have since added the Poppy collection to my range and I'm currently developing some new designs.
I hope you have enjoyed finding out a little more about me. Next Sunday I will be starting a brand new stitching project that you can all join in with so please come back then to find out more. You can also follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter where I will keep you updated with all things stitching.
I would love to hear any ideas you have for new embroidery designs or subjects you would like featured on the blog so please let me know by leaving a comment below.
